In reference to a question about the energy switching technological limitations with cyclotron based systems:For cyclotron based systems the energy switching time hinges on the beamline adjustments, I think commercially supplied systems have magnets which are slow to change fields. For PSI (fastest at 80 ms) they specially designed faster magnets for gantry 2, particularly for the last bending dipole in the gantry which is the slowest component - changes with the degrader are also faster. For gantry 3 they are trying to get this down to 200 ms (varian designed) but looks like the only improvements they can make with speed is the integration with control systems/degrader.Please let me know if you’d like me to source the relevant references! @Stephen Brooks
