(1) Development of novel molecular imaging probes
Bio-molecular imaging enables the visualization of molecular and cellular process in living organisms, making it possible to diagnose diseases early, qualitatively, and non-invasively. We are now working on the development ofnew types of imaging probes, which allows a combination of efficient diagnosis and treatment.

(2) Development of novel drugs for the advancement of BNCT
Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is an innovative cancer treatment that can selectively destroy the boron-containing cancer cells. To make
contributions widely to the BNCT field, we are developing novel boron drugs that improve the BNCT efficacy and also developing methods for detection of boron that can support the basic research on BNCT.

(3) Biological research for the advancement of cancer therapy
Cancer resistance to treatment is thought to be related to intracellular pathways in cancer cells and their surrounding cells. Focusing on the characteristics of these cells, we are conducting molecular biological research to clarify what intracellular pathways are involved in the survival and proliferation of cancer cells. Understanding these intracellular functions will lead to the discovery of new therapeutic targets and useful biomarkers.
